Peter Dinklage is calling out the hypocrisy of Disney for claiming the woke high ground while casting Rachel Zegler (Latina actress) for Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

Dwarves!!  Hasn’t Disney been paying attention to Dinklage’s advocacy for little people?

“Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough,” says Dinklage (around the 55:00 mark: lots of f-bombs in this interview).

I can make a pretty good case that Peter Dinklage has built a career on white, little person privilege.  Even if, and especially since, it's not true.

Just beg some questions regarding a fantastic, intelligent actor’s own unwitting hypocrisy.

First, what about Peter’s vertically challenged privilege?  Does he not see that many of the roles he has landed wouldn’t be his if it wasn’t for his stature?  I call privilege.

Second, how many Latino, African-American, Indian, Native American, LGBTQ actors and actresses were passed over for a white short person?  How many TALL black people were passed over for the role of Miles Finch in Elf?  More privilege, including white privilege.

Third, what would he have preferred Disney do with Snow White?  Snow White and the Seven Transvestites?

Or maybe he would prefer that NO little people be cast in the making of this movie for the sake of their feelings?  Because it’s only ok if HE gets roles for little people.  The seven other actors and their families can go pound sand.

Buddy was right.  “He must be a South Pole elf.”

Cancel culture is so easy a caveman can do it.  No one gets out of here without being branded a hypocrite or a racist.  Or in this case, a heightist.

The social justice “flavor of the day” spares no one.  It is not hard to make anyone into a privileged white guy, even someone who has worked as hard as Dinklage has at his craft.

But sometimes, just sometimes, a classic fairy tale is just that: a beautiful story for children.  It’s not a statement on social justice.  Making everything into a statement is why Hollywood is destroying storytelling.  Their films suck and they won’t be content until they are suckier.
